Just a young pup at 47. Teacher/lecturer (creative writing, "new media", graphic communication, multimedia). I'm Swedish, so I probably have a slightly different perspective on things than most of you. We've had a social democrat government for 60 years, more or less, but at the moment the conservatives and "liberals" are in power and things are going backwards. The pay gap between men and women in Sweden is higher than the EU average, they're selling out state-owned companies, there are tax cuts for the rich, privatisation of health care and education, etc... I do believe that the world today would be a better place if the establishment had listened to the counterculture of the 60s. (Did John Bassett McCleary say that? If he didn't, he very well could have.) I don't believe in totalitarian socialism, but I do view capitalism as the most destructive force in the world today, especially when in the hands of religious wing nuts. The Community of St Stephen 'n' Critters, therefore, is my Utopia. A democratic, socialist liberal, intellectual and creative society built on cooperation and Grateful Dead lyrics See you around

Just stumbled across the whole nation states thing by accident a few weeks ago, and find it a highly entertaining way to pass the time... was stumbled upon by hippiedom due to the flag, and chose to visit due to its avowed political leanings...
I'm based in the UK - sadly at the moment in the South East, far from any mountains - and would describe my politics as green / left / liberal, probably in that order, although it depends on the day. I'm a bit of a cynic, so the Commonwealth of Six and a Half Islands is a nice opportunity to be idealistic and not worry about whether anyone else will be too.
Thanks to Strawberry Fields for setting up a site, it's a fab idea. I'll be on a walking holiday for the next two weeks, in Scotland, but thereafter will make an effort to drop by...
Cheers

I'm from England. I read a lot, I play a lot of chess and I'm left-wing/libertarian. From what I've seen on the Hippiedom page, I'm possibly the only member of the region that is not a fan of The Grateful Dead or a pot smoker...

Oh Jesus H. Christ. You're word filter is killing me. Dogkitten? I would assume with the frequent discussions about drug use that the average age in Hippiedom is older than twelve. Is everything to do with NS now G rated?

Now that I've thrown my hissy fit I can get down to the introduction.
I'm a feminist socialist atheist who's old enough to drink and not old enough to get a senior citizens discount. I'm cranky, have too many cats and no domestic skills. My nation here is named after one of my cats.
I think the only hunting season that should exist is Republican season. I'm from Texas and voted against Dubya before the rest of you had even heard of him.(Lucky you) As Molly Ivins said, Texas liberal is not an oxymoron.

Namaste... I am 23, Female, Half Colombian, Half Scottish, born in Sweden and brought up in Australia. My dad is in the music industry and my mum was a 70's hippy and I grew up hearing how much she wished she had been born earlier to enjoy the movement's peak in San Francisco. I am a seeker of higher consciousness- in the past through drugs but now through spirituality and connection to spirit. Politically I believe a socialist state guided by non-denotional spirituality is the ideal stystem. I practice meditation, yoga, Bollywood Dance and pretty much love all things from the Indian Subcontinent. I love a healthy (ie:non emotional) debate, especially when it challenges me to break through my conditioning, and connecting with likeminded folks. That doesn't really give a very good idea of me but it's a start...

I'm not a fan of the grateful dead and I'm not a pot smoker. I'm sure there would be others too, especially people outside the states. I have never met an Aussie hippy that likes the Grateful Dead.

Well lets see, I'm old enough to vote, but not drink, but that doesn't stop me Born/living in America, I guess I would qualify myself as a Green Democratic Socialist, with some libertarian/ green anarcho traits I suppose. Into a fairly broad range of music (mostly metal/hardcore and punk with some jazz, with some alt/mainstream rock, jazz, classical, folk, etc.), a big reader, with Vonnegut, Nietzsche, T.S. Elliot being my favorites, and I play bass, though not very well. Other than that, feel free to ask.

Wasn't meant to be a challenge! I was just making a joke about the fact that when I joined the region all the comments on the main page seemed to be along the lines of "w00t! Deadhead here" or "p0t pwns"

Post by Hard Line Commies on Jul 25, 2008 12:09:09 GMT -5
Hi Folks. it's Hard Line Commies. I founded the region a couple years back. I also run a few other puppet nations in the region for recruiting (Hippiedom Recruiter) and for trying (but often failing too) to send each nation that enters the region a little welcome message.
So anyway I just came on to thank each of you for locating a nation in Hippiedom. It is because of you that this region is a sucess. Without your presence the region would not exist. I am not the most active player, but I do try to come on to keep the founder alive. If anyone needs to reach me and I don't reply don't think I'm being rude, I just don't log on the Hard Line Commies very often. I hope you enjoy it. At some point I will write some History of the region and put it in the History section. There is much history to the region. We are, for example, the only active region to survive a five region "war" that, amoung other things led to the elimitnation of a nation called "Prez George Bush."
Thank you again for coming to Hippiedom.

Hey all, I'm Ozymandias, named in honor of the Shelley poem. It's been a while since I used the proboards forums, lol- I've played NS on and off for a few years. Like most of you guys, I love the 60s.

Well, I actually moved into Hippedom a few days ago, but alas, by horrible memory, among other things, prevented me from joining the forums themselves.
So, in actuality, I live in the U.S.A, and, once legal age is reached, plan on voting for whichever candidate leans the farthest left.
Vaultia is just a random name I came up with one afternoon.
